I VOTED !

I’ve always been told it is best to vote my conscience. It’s tough when I’m presented with only 2 choices (both of which are unconscionable).

It’s rather like sitting down in a restaurant with only 2 items on the menu. Sautéed Filet of “Classic ’57 Chevy” Used Oil Filter or Artisan Enema Baguettes au jus. My, my, my. What to choose?

I chose Arby’s because they “have the meats”. Too bad they weren’t open.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR.

Both Donald J. Trump and Hillary Rodham (Clinton) say they hold the hopes and desires of the American people as their main concerns. Considering the political unrest likely to occur, no matter which one wins the election on Tuesday, logical thinkers might wonder why both haven’t dropped out of the race in order to maintain peace and national stability. The reason is simple. The American people want a showdown. Obama has used his tenure as president to set much of the population against itself by raising feelings of despair, racial tensions, hatred of police and reducing hope for a better future to levels which should make things more than interesting in the upcoming days and weeks.

Donald and Hillary legitimately won their respective primaries. They won the majority of votes within their parties. We wanted them. We wanted their nastiness. We wanted their mutual disrespect. We reveled in their narcissistic personality disorders and scandals. I’m surprised Jerry Springer wasn’t the sole moderator at all three presidential debates. They gave us what we wanted. Apparently they do prioritize our wishes.

It will be interesting to see what we want on Wednesday and, more importantly, what we, ( with benefit of hindsight ), might wish we hadn’t asked for, a year from now.

STEPPING AWAY.

With some adult offspring, sometimes the best help you can provide is none at all. These are the ones you’ve placed at a good level on the ladder of success and you’ve pointed to which way is up, but they are determined to climb down to the bottom to make sure you  weren’t fibbing. Failure can be a great substitute teacher.

SKIRTING THE ABYSS OF DESPAIR.

It is one of those times in my life, again. I am not alone, although it feels that way. Everyone goes through it at one time or another.

They say unfortunate or terrible things happen in groups of three. Sometimes, it seems, those groups of three tend to pile atop each other. A fire ignites and as I try to extinguish it, another nine fires erupt. As I fight the good fight, I am being overwhelmed. What does one do when giving up is not an option, but appears to be the only viable choice? I do my best to remember one young lady’s wise words:

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,’ I will try again tomorrow’.”                                                                                                          Mary Anne Radmacher

IT’S NO YOLK.

I shall write this using  liberal progressive logic.

Emma Morano is currently the world’s oldest person at 116 years of age. 117 next month. When asked how she’s lived this long, she told the AFP news agency,” I eat two eggs every day, and that’s it. And cookies. But I don’t eat much because I have no teeth.”

Emma’s current doctor says she’s eaten two raw eggs in the morning and an omelette at noon for the last 90 years. That’s about 100,000 eggs.

Eggs used to be a no-no due to their high cholesterol content, but thinking in the dietary community has been revised. The current recommendation is one egg per day (or 7 whole eggs per week) for healthy individuals. But just to be safe, it is advised to have your LDL and HDL (as well as your total cholesterol and triglycerides) checked every three months.

Just think how old Emma could be today if she is wise enough to follow the U.S. government’s simple recommendations.
